Jieshou, founded in the Northern Song Dynasty, was named because of its location at the junction of Gaoyou and Baoying. It is a national ecological town, the hometown of Chinese poetry, a famous cultural heritage town in Jiangsu Province, as well as a renowned tourist attraction. It is easily accessible through the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal on its west, the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail on its east, the Lianyungang-Huai’an-Yangzhou-Zhenjiang express rail, and the G233 national route which runs through the town.
